Steve Brady, founder and proprietor (through June 2022) of On Q Wines, crafts ultra-premium micro-production wines from the finest Napa Valley grapes grown in the Coombsville sub-appellation. As a passionate lover of both wine and music, noticed striking parallels between the symphony of flavors in a fine wine and the harmonious arrangements produced by an orchestra. Just as a symphony brings together various instruments and notes to create a harmonious composition, winemaking combines different grape varietals, terroir influences, and winemaking techniques to craft a wine that resonates on the palate.
In 2010, Steve launched On Q Wines with an indelible vintage that received rave reviews and high scores.
In exploring this connection further, we discovered that the process of crafting wine resembles the various stages of an orchestral performance. From the careful selection of grapes, akin to selecting talented musicians, to the orchestrated fermentation and aging process, similar to the rehearsal and refinement of a musical piece, each step contributes to the final masterpiece.
The influence of music on our winemaking philosophy goes beyond mere inspiration. We believe that music has the power to enhance the sensory experience of tasting wine. Just as a perfectly timed crescendo or a delicate pause can evoke strong emotions during a symphony, the right balance of aromas, flavors, and textures in a glass of wine can transport us to extraordinary sensory landscapes.
